If your card payment was declined, it's usually for one of the reasons below.
There isn't enough money in your balance
Your balance must cover the payment and any fee. Subscriptions, Apple Pay and Google Pay can charge when you haven't checked your balance. To add money, tap Top-up on the home screen and choose Debit Card or Stablecoins.
Check your balance before you pay. There's a fee for a declined payment. See What fees does Pyypl charge, and what are my limits?
Your card is frozen
Tap Cards. If the button reads Unfreeze, tap it. If your card is blocked, see My card is blocked, frozen or expired.
You've reached your spending limit
Your Total Limit shows on the home screen.
The merchant doesn't accept your card
Some merchants don't accept prepaid cards. Card payments to some kinds of merchants are always declined, such as automated fuel pumps (where you pay at the pump), pharmacies, betting and gambling, dating or tobacco. The card may also not work in some countries. See Where can I use my card, and why won't a site accept it?
If none of these fit
Contact us. Never share your card details. Pyypl will never ask for your CVV. If we send you a code, only enter it in the Pyypl app, on the screen that asks for it. We'll never ask for it by phone, email, chat or message.
Still need help? Chat with us in the app. The chat works even if you can't log in: on the login screen, tap ? to open the Help Centre, then tap the chat bubble. You can also use the chat on pyypl.com, email care@pyypl.com or use the web form at pyypl.com/contact. We work on weekdays during working hours, so messages sent at the weekend may take longer to answer.
